Practicing Self-Love with Pure Sunshine Tea

IMG_20180312_162333I discovered the beauty of the ginger/white tea combination serendipitously at a coffee shop in Berlin, when I tried to spice up white tea with another herb that the coffee shop had on the menu – ginger. The combination turned out to be so delicious that I had to recreate it with a few exciting twists! πŸ˜‰

Β fresh ginger (thinly sliced)
Β white tea
Β cinnamon
Β pinch of black pepper
Β coconut milk (preferably home-made)

Β Add fresh ginger slices to water, bring to a boil, and simmer for 15 minutes.

Β Mix cinnamon and black pepper into the hot water.

Β Pour over white tea and infuse for about 10 minutes.

Β Strain the herbs and add coconut milk.

Β Stir and enjoy!

How to Quickly Make a Healing Skin Oil from Dried Herbs

How do you make a quick medicinal skin oil in the winter when fresh herbs aren’t readily available? It’s so easy, especially if you have some dried plantain, chickweed, violet, or dandelion ready from last year’s harvest (you can also purchase these dried herbs).

Β Take equal parts of plantain, chickweed, violet, or dandelion (aerial parts – any combination you like), crunch them up into smaller pieces, and rehydrate the herbs with water.

Β Drain excess water and place the herbs into a mortar.

Β Add olive oil to the herbs and extract as much medicine as possible with a pestle.

Β You can use the oil right away or infuse it with the herbs overnight for higher potency.

Β Use cheese cloth to extract all the medicinal oil from the herbs and store it in a glass dropper bottle. (It is best to use the oil within one week as it can start growing mold because of the high water content.)

Kelp Powder As a Salt Substitute

Have you ever tried kelp powder as a substitute for salt in your diet? Kelp is a nutritious seaweed containing many minerals including sodium, potassium, calcium, and iodine in a form that our body can process and utilize. That means it is easy on our kidneys and good for our endocrine glands too! You can also use dulse or other powdered seaweeds. Little bit of powder goes a long way! πŸ˜˜πŸ’“πŸ’šπŸ’“πŸ’¦πŸ’«

Simple Way to Make Herbal Tinctures

During the recent new moon, I decided to prepare chaga mushroom and wormwood tinctures, powerful healing and cleansing herbal extracts. I wanted to share with you how simple it is to make tinctures at home using any of your favorite herbs (fresh, dried, or powdered).  🌱🎨✨

Here is one simple way to do it:

Β Β Chop up fresh or dried herbs (roots and barks might be a bit more difficult to chop so just do your best and don’t worry about the size of the pieces).

Β Β If you would like, start your herbal extraction during the new or full moon to take advantage of the moon’s power.

Β Β Place your herbs into a glass jar and pour 40% vodka, rum, or brandy over the herbs so that the alcohol covers them completely.

Β Β Close the jar and shake it every day to help the healing components dissolve into the alcohol.

Β Β After 60 to 90 days or longer, squeeze out the herbal extract using cheese cloth and place the liquid in another glass jar.

Β Β Store the herbal extract in a cool and dark place.

Β Β Pour single herb extracts or created herbal formulas into glass dropper bottles for every-day use.

Add your herbal extracts to tea or water and enjoy their beautiful healing properties!🌸😊

Detox and Whitening Tooth Powder

– 2 parts calcium bentonite clay
– 1 part turmeric powder
– 1/5 part baking soda
– 1/10 part ginger powder
– pinch of clove powder

Combine all the powders in a small glass container and shake well to mix all the ingredients together.

Sprinkle the powder on a toothbrush and brush your teeth as you would normally do.

Turmeric will stain your toothbrush bright yellow but will make your teeth sparkling white.

When in Berlin: Raw Vegan Eats and Treats

For the last two summers, I was so happy to get the opportunity to spend some time in the beautiful and green city of Berlin. With the glorious architecture and many gorgeous parks full of awe-inspiring trees, herbs, berries, calming bodies of water (yes, there is even a park with a magnificent waterfall running through it) and organic grocery stores at every corner, it’s hard to surpass Berlin in its environmentally conscious, animal-friendly, vegan mentality. I would like to share with you three of my favorite places to eat, have coffee or tea, or enjoy a delicious dessert. You won’t be disappointed!

Danziger Str. 16, 10435 Berlin

This is a raw vegan’s dream come true! All of your favorite dishes, including raw pizza, yummy soups, sarma, kelp noodles, rolls and wraps, cheese platters, crapes, and incredibly delicious desserts – a must visit for any raw vegan and impossible to disappoint.

This delightful deli offers some raw vegan eats such as smoothies, juices, and a yummy zucchini noodle bowl, but what tops my list are the unbeatable raw desserts. If you are in Schoneberg and are in the mood for dessert and coffee or tea, this cozy and friendly spot on one my favorite streets in Berlin is for you!

Frida Cafe

Graefestrasse 75,Β 10967 Berlin

If you are in Kreuzberg, don’t miss this beautiful charming oasis of a cafe on another one of my favorite streets in Berlin. Frida Cafe is a sanctuary, where you can read, write your next book, chat with friends, or just daydream. It’s a poet’s dream! Although there are many vegan options, there is one raw vegan dish (or you can ask for them to make it raw) called the Superfood bowl which is a half of a cantaloupe filled with berries, chia seeds, granola, and vegan yogurt. They have incredible coffee and tea too!

Never Compromise

don't compromise

Never compromise because you will find yourself in a situation that doesn’t support your growth and best interest. Instead, go toward an energy of least resistance which will provide space for you to be 100% your most joyful self at that moment. Love and light! 🌺🌴

You Already Have It All!

aura flowers

The current but slowly changing system of the world is based on scarcity, a perspective of lack that encourages, values, and rewards competition. Is there really a lack of resources so that only the ones who scrupulously compete to win get to live a good life? Have you ever met a happy and kind person who was out there creating chaos just to have more money and possessions?

There is nothing wrong with having or desiring abundance but it is the way in which we think about abundance that matters. It is not that we want status or mountains of clothes but it is the love and security that we think these things would lead to. It is precisely the environments which lack kindness, love, laughter, expression, safety, intimacy, and understanding that create a perceived material lack. In a reverse situation, even a shortage of food would not be perceived as such a drastic threat to survival since the true needs of humans are being met.

Whenever I have thoughts of having to “compete” for something, be it a job or someone’s attention, or to do more so I can get more, I immediately stop myself and question my motivations. The truth is that we can’t have anything that we aren’t in resonance with, that we don’t already have. If we have to at all compromise who we are, this situation is not for us. Each of us is unique and can contribute very special things to this world – the more energy we put into knowing who we are and developing our gifts, the less we will have the urge to compete. The bonus is that opportunities and abundance will come to us as we continue to focus on doing our thing – we won’t need to chase after anything. There will be a feeling of abundance and flow.
